GIFTS THAT GIVE BACK

The Sundance Bosnian Knits Collection

This unique relationship creates livelihoods for more than 700 artisans and their families—and priceless heirlooms for yours.

Mending Lives

Bosnian crochet, known as the shepherd’s stitch, is a native slip-stitch technique that creates a warm, durable tight-weave fabric. It also has the ability to mend lives.

Culture, Color & Collective Healing

In 1995, in a refugee settlement near war-torn Tuzla, a group of Bosnian women came together to forge new lives for themselves and their loved ones. While they’d lost nearly everything in the conflicts that decimated Bosnia and Herzegovina, these women possessed something that couldn’t be taken away: the traditional stitching techniques passed down through generation after generation of women. Together, the ladies formed an artists’ collective, selling their warm, colorful knits to get their families back on their feet.

Holiday Heirlooms

Sundance became enchanted with the women’s work—and inspired by their strength—in 2002. Today, more than two decades later, what began as a small order of slipper socks has blossomed into a brilliant collaboration. We’re proud to provide steady employment to nearly 700 women, and thrilled to bring their beautiful handiworks to you.

Our Heritage of Hope

Every item in our Bosnian Knits Holiday Collection is one of a kind and made to last a lifetime. But more importantly, each piece is the living embodiment of heritage and hope—meticulously crafted, one stitch at a time.
